JET-VAC® Hydro-Jet Ejectors

Use high pressure liquid as the motive force
Hydro-Jet image
Type W-20
Graphite-lined Hydro-Jet

Hydro-Jet ejectors are jet pumps, motivated by a high pressure liquid. They use the kinetic energy of the pressure liquid to entrain gases and vapors, slurries and other liquids, or granular solids and then discharge the resultant mixture against a counter pressure.

Ejector exploded view

Hydro-Jets are simple in design and reliable in operation. Their major components consist of a nozzle head  1 , a converging nozzle  2 , suction head (mixing chamber)  3 , and diffuser (Venturi)  4 . There are no moving parts, no lubrication and maintenance is minimal. Hydro-Jets are self-priming and easily activated by simply turning on the flow of the pressure liquid-water or process fluid. (see ejector principle)

Applications:

  • Vacuum pumps and vapor condensers
  • Pumps for lifting slurries and waste material containing solids from tanks and sumps
  • Mixers for mixing chemical feeds and dry granular solids

Available Types:

Type "W", single stage, Hydro-Jet units, using pressure liquids, are ideal for many standard applications where steam is not available. They will handle large volumes of condensable vapors. Handling capacities for non-condensables are less than steam-jets and are determined by the velocity of motivating liquids. Type "W" series is available in sizes 1 1/2 inches and up. Design modifications, combination units and package systems can be supplied to accommodate variable operating conditions encountered in specific applications.

Type "WS" ejectors are combination units having one or more high pressure steam-jets preceding a Hydro-Jet. They are used to maintain absolute pressures lower than the vapor pressure of the motivating liquid. The Hydro-Jet replaces a condenser and final stage steam-jet; therefore a barometric leg and high elevation mounting is not required.

A packaged Hydro-Jet water recirculating system minimizes the expense of using large volumes of water required to handle non-condensables. The "WS" Hydro-Jet unit is combined with a heat exchanger that removes the heat from condensing steam. Any build-up of contaminants in recirculated water can then be carried away and treated. Hydro-Jet packaged systems are portable and easy to install; requiring only steam, electric power and cooling water hook-ups.
