JET-VAC® Chiller System Example

A typical installation done by Artisan Industries
System
2,150 ton Chilling TowerThe complete system is a 2,150 ton continuous steam jet water chilling tower. It's capacity is 4000 GPM of water, cooled from 81° F to 68° F. The tower's overall height is 100 ft and it's diameter is approximately 9 feet.
Key Notes:
1) To achieve the final water temperature three stages of chilling were used.
2) Using a vertical design resulted in a small system footprint.
3) Since this plant had waste steam available, Artisan was able to utilitze it for the motive force in the chilling tower.
Boosters
The boosters, designed and fabricated by Artisan craftsmen, each weigh 2 1/2 tons, are 28 feet long, have a suction head height of 7 feet, a suction inlet diameter of 4 feet and a discharge outlet diameter of 3 feet. The system required 3 boosters and each uses 25 PSIG of steam at 9,800 lbs/hr.
Cylinder
The central cylinder of the tower measures 80 feet in length and 9 feet in diameter. It consists of a 26 foot by 9 foot diameter barometric condenser on top of three evaporation chambers. At the base of the cylinder is an integral hotwell measuring 16 feet high and 12 feet in diameter.

1  (top photo) The condenser is fed with 87 °F water at 6400 GPM.

Assembly
The engineering & construction of the tower was completed within three months. The assembly of the tower was straight forward and the system was started by the end user without any technical difficulties.
