ProThermTM 50 Principle

laboratory scale thin film processor

Theory

Centrifugal force exerted by the rotor blades  3  holds a thin film of feed material  4  against the heated process wall  2 . The turbulent thin-film between the rotor blade and the process wall covers the entire heated section at all times, regardless of feed or evaporation rates.

1  Solvent Vapor Out 5  Hot Water In/Out
2  Process Wall 6  Bottoms Discharge
3  Rotor Blades 7  Sight Glass
 4  Feed In

Based on our patented Rototherm® principle.

This film is constantly renewed as the progressively more concentrated material is displaced towards the bottoms discharge nozzle  6  by the incoming feed  4 . High vacuum is maintained in the system to minimize the processing temperature. As the residence time is generally measured in seconds, the degradation of heat sensitive materials is minimized.
